Fedra Type Poster
For this project, I created two posters to showcase the Fedra typeface which was created by Peter Bil'ak in 2001. Using the unique qualities of the letterforms combined with an intriguing style, these posters will show off the true elegance and versatility of Fedra Sans.
Inspired by jazz themed posters with contrasting foreground and background elements
Some process work experimenting with Fedra letterforms and positive negative space
Adding color and utilizing different compositions
Final product
Concept: I chose to represent this typeface in a concert style poster because of the type's physical qualities. This modest typeface is very legible with its constant stroke throughout and works well for print and computer screens. With a limited historical background, I chose to create a bold foreground and background relationship to get the viewers attention. Similar to some concert posters, I used high contrast colors to add depth to the letterforms.
"It humanises the communicated message and adds simple, informal elegance. The most important criterion was to create a typeface which works equally well on paper and on the computer screen, and is consistent across all computer platforms.."
